July 10th was the 21st annual Matel Family Picnic/Reunion at Bob and Mary’s cabin in Iron River, Wisconsin. The picnic is always held the Saturday after the 4th of July and is guaranteed to have a great turnout because it's an important (and fun!) event for the family. As usual, the kids spent nearly all of their time playing in the water with the water toys. Lauren and Grant always look forward to the picnic because they know they can spend the entire day with the Takkunen cousins and the zillion other kids in the extended family. Grant was disappointed because Brendan couldn't come this year, but he had a great time anyway (as I knew he would). While the kids play in the water, we adults catch up on the family happenings over the year. It’s always good to see and visit with everyone. What a wonderful family tradition!
