Mon May 14, 2012 Description
Some of this may not mean anything to non-Aussies, just random ramblings of things I remember in the 60's and 70's. It would actually be interesting as to how many similarities we might have. Maplebrook Studios: Stanleigh Solids Paper Pack Katie Pertiet: Naturally Krafty No. 11 Paper Pack Lil Bit Tags Ali Edwards: Giving Thanks Layered Template Pattie Knox: Epoxy Extravaganza: Translucent Page Accents Staple Its! Fonts: Junction and Brady Bunch Remastered Photos: From the net Journalling: Milk was delivered in the early hours of the morning by horse and cart. I would hear the bells on the horse jingling as the milkman made his way up the street. I swear I don’t feel that old, but sure enough I do remember the big old draught horses that would then be tethered up at Eastern Cemetary during the day. Milk came in bottles and if you were the lucky one to open the bottle you would taste the layer of cream laying on the top of the milk ....... Grandma would crochet me beloved ponchos to wear, the longer the fringe the better, usually in variegated coloured yarn. ....... We grew up watching Brady Bunch which in turn always made me want to live in a house with stairs, alas only rich people had two storey homes. Hmmm, how come we’re STILL watching repeats of Brady Bunch today! ....... Collections of swapcards were traded at school, always trying to get those elusive pairs. ....... We could sing all the words to all the television jingles - Louie the Fly being one of the favourites. He’s bad and mean and mighty unclean, afraid of no one except the man with the can of Mortein! ....... I loved the Bay City Rollers, mum even made me a pair of roller strollers out of old jeans that had seen better days. I wonder what happened to them? Woody was my favourite, I had their posters all over my bedroom walls. Funny how years later I would end up marrying a Scot! ....... Slinky was one of the fun toys we would play with. Someone made a lot of money on an idea like this! Just a whole stack of circled wire! ....... Okay I will admit it, I was in love with Jamie Redfern. Was he the Justin Beiber of the 70’s? We would religiously watch ‘Young Talent Time’ every week ....... On hot days mum would give us a treat of a Sunnyboy or Razz or Glug. ....... ‘Get The Knack’ was the first record I ever bought with my own money after doing work experience in high school. I played ‘My Sharona’ until it was worn out. ....... One heck of a fashion statement in my teens were the “Treads”. Sandals made of actual car tyre treads. I got some hand-me-downs from the Flannery girls, and even though they didn’t fit I made sure I squished my feet into them. Fashion knew no pain as a teen! Actions |
