Journaling: He was the youngest competitor at the 2012 U.S. National Figure Skating Competition in San Jose, CA in January. Yet 11 year old Vincent Zhou broke the record for the highest score by a novice male, landing five clean triple jumps skating to “Iron Monkey” and “Rising Sun”. He wowed his hometown crowd and earned a standing ovation. “It’s incredible”, Vincent said after winning the title. “All of my hard work and training paid off.” After his short program to “Nut Rocker”, this young skater was just .02 points behind Nathan Chen’s record setting performance from last season. “It was really fun skating at my first big nationals,” he said.
