I see a lot of mention of Project Life, but don't really know what it is. Is it the same as design 365?

I tried to do the 365 last year and it was too hard to keep up with a photo each day. Is PL any different?
Just curious

Meagan, basically it's a year long project, but you can make it whatever you want! I'm doing it for the first time this year & am loving it. I've been doing a double page spread for each week, sort of giving an overview of what happened, pictures of the everyday things, adding in saved bits from the week, funny things my kids say, things that they bring home from school. If you want a general idea go to beckyhiggins.com & she explains it all. The thing I'm loving about it is it makes me stop & think to write down things I might not have, but don't want to forget, or take a quick photo on my phone that I might have just passed over before.

Yes. What Robyn said!
And I agree. I try to capture the little things, like what books I'm reading that week or something silly my daughter did etc. I 'm sticking to the same one or two templates to make it easier. I'm also doing a single page for each week, otherwise I may get overwhelmed. And I only take a couple of photos a week, not everyday. But you could just do a double page for the entire month instead and just incorporate it in your family album. It's up to you.

I see it as a way to scrapbook the simple, everyday moments. Ones I may not make full layouts of but also don't want to forget either.

Project Life can be anything you want it to be. The concept, as such, belongs to Becky Higgins, and there is a 3-ring binder & inserts you can purchase, if you want to follow her approach. But Project Life can be anything you want it to be: it doesnt have to use her album, it doesnt have to be all digital, or be entirely traditional scrapbooking - but it can be any of these. Project life is a way to record life - and as such it can be done week by week, or twice a month or whenever. There is NO RULE. It can be done with any supplies, in any size - your pace, your budget, your approach. It can be a combination of digital, traditional or hybrid, it can be any size, it can include (or not) items other than photographs (movie or plane tickets, receipts, kids art, recipes, magazine clippings, etc) but it's highly recommended that you it does include a multitude of such items. Or you can photograph the items that are too large or dimensional to fit the chosen size of your album. And it should include journaling that provides information about who, where, when and why of their existence in the album, your personal thoughts, stories, prayers, hopes, anything you think important. It is a way to tell the story of YOUR life & your times to future generations, to make ourselves known to them not only as parents, but also as human beings. Dont put so much emphasis on HOW it looks, or what it "should" be - find whatever works for you and just do the recordkeeping. It should be simple enough to be doable and pretty enough to satisfy YOUR creative bone. It's not a competitive sport. It is something you do because it's fun, and because you want to let future generations know about: you & your times. And if you have children, because you want to let them know about themselves as children and about you, as their young parents - something they will only be able to truly appreciate in fifty years, when they're mature & you'll no longer be around.
I hope you'll join the Project Life community - there are thousands of people participating in it through various approaches - and finding the one that suits YOU is key. Do some internet searches - there is soooo much inspiration available these days.
Good luck to one and all.
