Meet Sasha Holloway

We’re excited to have a new Decorator in the House, and can’t wait to introduce her to you! A big welcome to Sasha Holloway… she fun, she’s feisty, and she’s oh so talented!

Name: Sasha Holloway

What camera do you use? Nikon D90

What program do you create in? Photoshop Elements/CS5. I use both for editing photos and things of that nature. I have been purchasing digital elements over the past 6 months to get into Hybrid and Digital Scrapbooking as I almost gave up paper all together.

How long have you been digital scrapbooking? I tried it a few years ago and got frustrated with the process and concentrated more on paper but I have started back slowly so now only a few months.

How would you describe your scrapbook style? I am pretty much hodge podge and just whatever I am feeling. I am not a flower and over embellishment type scrapper but I do like to mix it up.

Where do you create, and when? I create mostly at night when everyone else is asleep.

What’s your ‘go-to’ technique or trick? Tea bag folding, scallop flowers, and punches.

What’s your favorite color combination? I love bright colors with a touch of soft. Right now I am loving orange, teal, and pink with a hint of yellows.

Do you prefer movies or books? I prefer both. I am a book whore and I love it.

What’s your favorite snack? Anything that makes me gain 5 lbs. If I had to choose though it would be popcorn. I can live off that stuff.

What type of music do you like? All types. I am not closeminded and do not discriminate against any genre of music if the beat is nice then I like it. I do wish the 60′s era would come back just one more time.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be? I would go back to either Egypt or Japan. Those were my favorite two places that I have lived. Hawaii is second. Currently I live in England; I like it, but Japan I loved.

What five adjectives describe you best? funny, bold, judgemental, helpful, and passionate

1 Kit, 4 Ways – Wonderland Digital Paper 2

It’s Wednesday, and we’re back! This week, we’re happy to show you just how versatile you can be with Wonderland Digital Papers 2, by Sara Schmutz:

Let’s get right to it, shall we?

Layout by Jen Papadimitriou

Jen Papadimitriou says: “Sara Schmutz’ Wonderland papers are so bright and vibrant, they complement any layout! I also clipped one of her patterns into her grunge overlays to create a soft border. I finished it off with a frame and some stitches!” (Credits: Wonderland and Grunge Overlays by Sara Schmutz; Layered Layouts vol. 7 by Deena Rutter; Felis by Karla Dudley; In Stitches by Robyn Meierotto)

Layout by Katie Richards

Katie Richards says: “What I love the most about Sara’s Wonderland papers is the vintage look, and home comfort feeling I get when I look at them. I loved all the papers, especially the brown and blue and wanted to highlight all of them. So I went with Karen Funk’s template. I gave my photo a filter to make it look old, and grunged up the paper a little bit. I threw on some elementsand called it Wonder-ific!” (Credits: Wonderland and Wonderland Elements by Sara Schmutz; Remember When Template and Essential Hardware by Karen Funk)

Layout by Jennifer Valencia

Jennifer Valencia says: “I loved the bright colors of Sara’s Winter Wonderland paper pack, and the papers with the dots seemed perfect for these pictures of my daughter decorating cookies with sprinkles. I used a very neutral background because the photos and the papers were very vibrant and full of detail. Then I clipped the papers to some simple rectangle and circle shapes on my page to accent the photos. The papers match the warmth and color in the photos and make the layout complete.” (Credits: Wonderland by Sara Schmutz; Falling for You by Karen Funk)

Layout by Jeryn Carlisi

Jeryn Carlisi says: “What a great paper pack Wonderland is. It’s perfect for holiday and non-holiday LOs. I took my son to a festival in town with fake snow. I wanted the title and subtitle to stand out so I cut it out of the red paper and then adjusted the shadows. This also allowed the blue paper from underneath to peak through. Using a scalloped border from Karen Funk’s One of a Kind kit I used it to mask the striped paper. Then I added the other embellishments to top off my LO.” (Credits: Wonderland by Sara Schmutz; One of a Kind by Karen Funk ; Dotted Dates and Authentic by Audrey Neal; In Stitches by Robyn Meierotto)

So, how would you like your own set of Wonderland papers to play with? Comment here, and tell me this: Are you still in hustle mode, or do you get to relax for the next few days? One random commenter will be our winner!

(Congrats to Kyla, winner of last week’s kit. I, for one, would LOVE to see a photo of your husband like that!)

1 Kit, 4 Ways – HoliDAYS December Tags

Hello, and this week we’re happy to be working with Robyn Meierotto’s HoliDAYS – December Tags:

Perfect for December Daily albums (and so much more), I can’t wait to show you what some of the Design House Decorators did with them!

Tags by Audrey Neal

Audrey Neal says: “I created a set of advent/gratitude tags, one for each day. There’s a photo on one side and a bit of journaling on the other side. I’ve got these hanging on a couple of tree branches in a large vase in our living room — just as a fun way to add a bit of nature and thanksgiving to our decor.” (Credits: HoliDAYS by Robyn Meierotto)

Layout by Missy Backues

Missy Backues says: “I loved the red number rub-ons in the holiday kit and absolutely had to use them on a layout. I found a photo I had taken recently of my daughter reading while all dressed up for the local Christmas parade and thought it would work great with the numbers for a waiting/countdown feel. I also added one of the adorable tags from the kit. I love how the kit has lots of pre-made tags with stitching as well as the items needed to build up your own tag. Layout by Allison Waken

Allison Waken says: “These tags are so versatile that I couldn’t decide which way I wanted to use them at first! I know I’ll be using them again. I chose to use two of them on this page as little date tags. I loved the stitching elements on these and thought it made such a cute little addition to my Christmas Eve page. (Credits: HoliDAYS and In Stitches by Robyn Meierotto; Christmas Joy by Karen Funk; Digi Essentials by Karla Dudley; Vanity Fair Aubergine by Jen Allyson)

Layout by Jeryn Carlisi

Jeryn Carlisi says: “These tags were perfect for this Top 15 idea I had in mind to document everything I love about the holidays. I wanted to do some of the tags in various sizes to make it more eye appealing. I decided to not use pictures to avoid overloading the LO.” (Credits: HoliDAYS and Holly Jolly by Robyn Meierotto; Digi Essentials 5 by Karla Dudley)

Are the wheels turning, with all the fabulous things you could do with these tags? Want a set for your very own? Comment here, and tell me what your favorite holiday tradition is, and you could win!

(Congrats to Erika K, the winner of last week’s kit. She’s pretty nice.)

How to Make a Hybrid Holiday Banner

Carey here! I just love decorating for the Holidays, and lately I’ve been obsessed with banners. I want to share with you how to make an easy hybrid banner to spruce up your home for the Holidays.

You’ll need the following supplies:

Christmas Magic kit by Karen Funk

D-cuts Pendants + Banners kit by Deena Rutter

Step 1: Open a new 8.5 x 11″ file.  Add three triangles to serve as clipping masks for the pendants. I rotated one to fit on the sheet of paper for ease of printing. Add three scalloped circles from the D-cuts Pendants + Banners kit. I’m going to use the word “JOY” so I only used three of each. If you want to use a different word, you may need an additional page for the extra pendants and circles.

Step 2: Add your desired papers from the Christmas Magic kit and clip to the shapes. Add glitter and snowflake banner to the pendants.

Step 3: Add red frames, positioning so they will fit on the page. Clip papers in the open space behind the frames.

Step 4: Type one letter centered in each frame. I used the font Rage in red. Since the “O” is not as ornate as the other letters, I placed the sparkle tree behind it.

Step 5: Print onto matte presentation paper or white cardstock and cut out the shapes. I left a thin white border around the red frames to preserve their detail.

Step 6: Ink the edges with black distress ink. For the tight areas, use a marker to carefully ink the edges.

Step 7: Punch holes in the top corners of the pendant and insert eyelets to reinforce the holes.

Step 8: Assemble pieces using pop dots to add dimension.

Step 9: Tie ribbon or yarn through the eyelets to assemble banner.

Step 10: Add Stickles (or other glitter glue) to red frame and letter. Set aside to dry.

Now your banner is ready to hang and enjoy!
