Hello everyone! I’m very excited to be making my first post on the Design House Digital Blog! Today I will share how I made this 8.5×11 Hybrid Layout about my son playing at the park
Kits Used
Center Stage Template from Letter Layouts Volume 1 by Audrey Neal
Monster Jam Sticker Pack by Spencer Nugent
Daisy Jane Paper Bits by Carina Gardner
Martha, My Dear Seedling Paper Set by Deena Rutter
I love to use templates for hybrid layouts because it’s like having the design already done for me. All I need to think about is adding my special little bits!
This is what the Center Stage Template looks like
In Adobe Photoshop, I started by turning off the title, paper strip and title decor layers since I didn’t want to use those
Since I knew I’d be using kraft cardstock for my final background I dropped in a sheet from Neutral Stock by Audrey Neal, so I could have an idea of what my final page would look like.
Then I added my photos, paper and embellishments
And finally my journaling, using Century Gothic font. I also played a bit with the photo placement and sizing. I love the flexibility of clipping masks for this very purpose!
At this point I am done with the digital side of things. Now to print!
I turned off the background and journaling papers, and printed the photos, paper and embellishments onto photo paper
Then printed just the journaling onto kraft cardstock
Then I cut out the photo/paper portion, put it all together, added my title and the date, and made a few adjustments
Finally I machine stitched around the edge of the cardstock.
And that’s it! This is pretty much the process I follow whenever I do a hybrid layout using a template as the starting point. Remember, you can always switch off and discard whatever layers don’t work for you and make the design your own.
Until next time!
Francine
