Paper Piecing With Your Extra Digital Scraps
One technique I LOVE is good ol’ fashion paper piecing. Just give me some paper, scissors and glue!
I quickly drew up this owl template a while back and I’d love to share it so if you want to bust out your scissors feel free to save this template!

I printed the template on some cardstock and Vanity Fair Persimmon Paper.

I then cut out the pieces.

I decided I wanted to distress the paper and run the brown pieces through my cuttlebug to add a little interest. If you’re not to good at cutting or the image you’re cutting is a little tricky…distressing is a perfect way to ‘hide’ the little imperfections…whether it’s distressing using inks and/or distressing the edge of the paper like I did using my fingernail.

Some other DHD kits I used for this card are Baby Mine and OH BOY! Party Time Extras…….I can’t get enough of them!

I outlined the owl’s belly and face with my Gelly Roll glitter pen. Added gems for his eyes and put some Glossy Accents on his beak. I cut the blue/polka dot paper using one of my Nestablitlies Labels die, tied some twine around it and finished it with a button and tag. I then adhered the owl using pop dots.

Paper piecing is a great way to use up all your yummy DHD scraps!
