You should not have to purchase photoshop. However most digital patterns are far too large for a webpage background. So you should stick to digital kits that are made for blogs specifically, or see if you know someone who can *shrink* the background image to be more suitable for a blog/website

I have a blog on blogger, and I’m new to setting up a different background and page elements on my blog. If I purchase a background and page elements online, on a scrapbooking site, for my blog, do I also have to purchase photoshop?

Your tutorial is just what I was looking for and easy to follow… However, I’ve run into a problem.. When I preview, by background is generic/blue. I’ve tried spaces where it appears you have spaces, no spaces..having line breaks where you show them, running it all together…colons, semi-colons… all to no avail, just a generic blue background. I’m using a .jpg… does thta make a difference? help!

Dawn, you can make them any size. The trick is in getting a pattern that will look good when automatically repeated.

Thanks for these tuts! I too found both very easy to understand and I think I may actually be able to accomplish prettying mine up! The only thing I would love to know now is what sizes to make them so I can create my own. And yep, I do know I need to check with designers before using any kits, lol.

Thanks! I was designing my own background, and it’s hard to figure out how to make a good one that will tile. Now mine is very basic. I’ve always wanted to figure out how to make these changes to my blog, but the other tutorial I read made it so confusing.
