When I saw Sara Schmutz’s Tu Es Jolie Vintage Mail Labels, I knew I wanted to use them to create a hybrid layout to document the care packages we send to my husband who is currently deployed with the Navy. These are the kits I used to create my layout:
I also used a 12×12 piece of Kraft cardstock, a mini attacher, pop dots, versafine ink in blue, 2 border punches, a circle punch, ribbon, and my sewing machine.
In PhotoShop, I opened a new 8.5×11 300dpi document and added a few of my favorite labels, letters for the title and journaling on one label.

I also printed one sheet of 2 different patterned papers and one picture of my son at the post office.
I trimmed each label and inked the edges with ink and a foam brush. I cut 3 strips of patterned paper and used border punches to add interest. I hand cut the CARE letters and used a circle punch to punch out the package alphas. I mounted the CARE letters with adhesive and followed up with mini attacher staples. I used pop dots under each of the typewriter letters. I am an infamous paper pusher. That means I will shuffle pieces around and around until I am satisfied before I get the adhesive out. Once I finally got all the pieces where I wanted, I adhered them to the cardstock and then added machine stitching for visual interest. I also pleated some red white and blue ribbon under the photo. I lay a strip of adhesive under the photo and another strip on the back of the ribbon. I had pleated the ribbon a little at a time and added more adhesive as needed. When I finally finished the strip, I machine stitched over the top to keep it secure.
