Welcome back everyone! So let’s get right to the next lesson shall we? I’ll admit it, I’m no poet. Not even close. So when creating a layout I often try to write something meaningful but sometimes that ends up falling flat. That is why I have a secret weapon I use when I need to find the ‘perfect’ saying to capture the moment! I’m going to share it with you, so get your pencils and notebooks out for today’s lesson and write this down: Song Lyrics.
Think about it, you have thousands of poetic and witty words at your disposal! Here’s an example of part of a Billy Joel song lyric which I used to describe how I was feeling about my daughter. In Just the Way You Are the lyrics said it better than I ever could! 
In the next layout, Lori used lyrics from a beautiful Taylor Swift song to capture her Fairytale day. She used a softer font and separated some of the lyrics with little flowers to allow it flow better when reading it.
Lyrics are fun to read on a page and can describe a person and/or event in ways you may have never thought before! Often times they have a rhythmic feel to them, which can be a great way to mix it up on your page. Shannon’s sweet My Little Girl layout used the chorus from a Tim McGraw tune to capture a sweet photograph. She also used the title from the song for her page as well!
And why stop there? Do you or a loved one have a favourite song? From weddings, vacations or your favourite playlist, songs can have a great impact when recalling a memory. Here is one from Jeryn called ‘Forever‘ . She documented her favourite song – one she plays over and over again.

Often when I want to use a song lyric on my layout I turn to Google. It’s a great tool to use when trying to find a song. In this last example I had a bunch of photos of me and my daughter walking down our street. I had so much journaling to fill in and I really struggled with what to say. Then it hit me – my daughter loves Sesame Street and we are walking in our neighborhood! I did a quick search for sesame street songs and I found the perfect one! Personally I think it’s more interesting then what I could ever say! lol…
So how did you with last week’s homework? This week’s assignment will be to start listening more closely to the radio or iPod tunes. You may find some inspiration there for your next layout! See you next week!
