Scrapbooking gone… Psychedelic?

Got a case of the Winter Blahs? Me, too!

Or maybe you live in the southern hemisphere, where summer is in full swing? Me, too! (HA! I wish!)

Let’s brighten things up with a peek at some layouts we did with Melissa Esplin’s Psychedelic Circus kits!

I started with Scrappable Template No. 18, by Tiffany Tillman. I used a solid white background to balance out the strong, graphic paper, and split my single photo across all three photo mats. A torn edge on the chartreuse Bubble Paper keeps everything from being too linear, and I kept the playful feel with my glitter splatters in the same hue. I added the title with Melissa’s ALL CAPS ALPHA, for a fun, hand-drawn look.

Next, check out this layout by Jen Allyson, where she paired the Detail Oriented Paper with the bright pink from the Polka Paper. They sure do pop with the muted silvers and greys that make up most of her photos, don’t they? Jen used the same ALL CAPS ALPHA, but in white this time, and kept her photo collage cohesive by rounding the outer edges. And you thought she just made amazing supplies, huh?

Heather Guenther made this super fun layout showcasing some of her favorite music. (What a great layout idea!) Switching all of her photos to black and white is a great way to make them all work together. She also used a template, this time from Deena Rutter’s Design 365 Starter Kit, and papers from Psychedelic Circus – The Collection. A subtle striped paper from Deena’s il faut collection and a date stamp from Jen Allyson’s Design 365 January Kit finished it off, and it looks just perfect!

Lori Pickens shows that black can really make a statement, especially when it’s paired with strong, vibrant colors and patterns! The subtle texture in the black paper from Carina Gardner’s ESSENTIALS-Papers v.1 keeps the layout from looking too plain, and the bright colors from The Collection keep it lighthearted and fun, just like the photos! I love how she took one of the Decorative Frames and used it as two photo corners, plus paired it with the ALL CAPS ALPHA to make a fun little word sticker (with). She also used a template by Tiffany Tillman, from her Scrappable Collection Nine.

And really, could these papers be any more perfect for fun kid pages? Check out how Theresa Marie used a template from the Scrappable Collection One by Tiffany Tillman to show off these fun photos. The piecing of the different papers from The Collection for the background really keep your eye moving through the layout, and she added just the right amount of dimension with the ESSENTIALS-Stitches V.1 and fun circle clips from the Color Kit 1, both by Carina.

Lisa VanderVeen also used black to ground her page, and managed to get SEVEN photos on there, with room left over for journaling! By keeping her design set up as a basic grid, she was able to do a lot without overwhelming the photos. Looks like a fun day, doesn’t it?

Hopefully these pages have helped inspire you to have a little fun with your colors, and get rid of those winter blahs. Trust me, this is much cheaper than a trip to the tropics!
