October Artist of the Month
October’s Artist of the Month is Michelle Huegel (aka editorialdragon all over digi-land). Michelle’s gallery is graphic, paper-like and colorful. Let’s get to know Michelle a little bit better!
What camera do you use? I use my iPhone 4s camera the most by far since I got it in June. It’s AMAZING! I love all the photo editing apps like Instagram, Camera 360, and others. My point-and-shoot is an older Kodak, M1093 IS, and I have an older DSLR, too, that someday I’m going to really learn how to use! It’s an Olympus E410.
How long have you been digital scrapbooking? Since sometime in 2007, I think. I have a notoriously bad memory, but I know it was before I got married in 2008.
How would you describe your scrapbook style? Oh, paper-y, I guess? Generally I scrap pages that could be duplicated in paper (well with a LOT more work lol), but I also love to dabble in the art journal-y side of things. And it seems that at DHD especially my “clean and simple” aesthetic comes out to play a lot, too.
Where do you create, and when? At my overpowered Sony laptop with its nice and speedy Core i7 processor, usually sitting at my desk which is in the middle of the house so I can keep an eye on my boys while I snatch a few minutes to scrap. When? Anytime I have a minute, and usually in very short chunks of time!
What’s your go-to technique or trick? Paint! I rarely create a layout without it anymore. Also, I almost always run an action on my photos before scrapping, and usually try out several different actions to see what works best with my kit, colors, theme, etc.
What’s your favorite color combination? I really had no idea off the top of my head, so I checked my Pinterest Color Inspiration board and my Layouts folder, and it seems that I use blue a lot (big shocker since I have 3 boys, right?!). I tend toward more saturated palettes, rarely pastels or jewel tones. Maybe blue, green, and kraft?
Do you prefer movies or books? Books all the way
What’s your favorite snack? Nutella on a whole wheat bagel with a cold cup of milk or Coke.
What type of music do you like? Depends on my mood, but usually either country or Christian worship music.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be? Honestly, anywhere near family. I really miss my family! We are all scattered around the country now. But I do love it in Texas.
What five adjectives describe you best? Honest, Creative, Quirky, Persistent, Smart. For a different perspective, my hubby came up with Smart, Beautiful, Stubborn, Quirky, and Controlling. I like my list better.
Michelle shares one of her favorite layouts with us!
I love Michelle’s take on the September Blueprint challenge! How fun is that robot and the I Love You speech bubble? She added such awesome polishing details with the string, staples and tape. This page makes me want to grab this kit and get to scrappin’ my boys! Such a great page!
Thanks Michelle for sharing a little bit about yourself with us and being a part of the DHD family! Check out Michelle’s blog to see more of her work.
Do you want a chance to be Artist of the Month? Post your projects, using DHD products, in the gallery and you could be next!
