What camera do you use? Nikon D70
What program do you create in? PS CS4
How long have you been digital scrapbooking? just over 2 years
How would you describe your scrapbook style? I tend to do a little of everything because I think it keeps my creative juices flowing & I learn new things. However if I were to pick the style I use most often, I would say clean and simple.
Where do you create, and when? I have a laptop so I can create anywhere in the house, while I sit in the van waiting for the kids at piano lessons, or as my hubby drives on vacations. Most of the time though I am sitting at the kitchen table with my laptop so that I can be in the “hub” of what the family is doing. I scrap anytime that I can find a few minutes. My favorite time is when all the kids are gone to school and I know I will have a good block of uninterrupted time.
What’s your ‘go-to’ technique or trick? I keep a folder on my computer where I save images of scrapbook pages that inspire me. When I feel stuck for an idea I can browse the collection and almost always find something that inspires me. Often I just take one idea from a scrapbook page I like such as title placement or interesting journaling. Sometimes the composition of the page is what inspires me. I like to rotate the page in my browser to see what I think of the page from a different angle.
What’s your favorite color combination? Wow that is a tough question. I think that the photos are what determines what color combination I decide to use. If the photos are of a playful nature it often leads me to brighter and bolder color schemes, while if the photos are landscapes I tend to go with more muted schemes. The beauty of digital is that photos can be altered to sepia or B&W when you want to force them to work with a combination of colors that normally wouldn’t suit.
Do you prefer movies or books? I usually can only REALLY watch a movie if I do so at a movie theater. When we rent one to watch at home, the temptation to scrap while “watching” is too great – to which my family then states, “you don’t really watch movies!”
If I get my hands on a page turner then I really enjoy reading. If it doesn’t capture me in the plot, then I have a hard time sitting still long enough to finish reading it.
What’s your favorite snack? I rarely can resist popcorn. I love movie theater style, kettle corn, caramel corn.
What type of music do you like? I must make a plug for Pandora.com I have found so many additional artists that I love by just typing in one artist I enjoy hearing, the site then plays others who are of the same style. Some I have come to love over the last few years are A Fine Frenzy, Ingrid Michaelson, Regina Spektor, Adele. I also love music by Josh Grobin & Michael Buble as well as alternative Christian music.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be? Actually I don’t think I would live anywhere different than I do now. Although the Idaho winter is longer than I would like, I do love that I am able to experience all of the four seasons. We are also in a wonderful location with my parents living just over an hour’s drive south and my husband’s parents living just under an hour’s drive north. Perfect to have our space but be able to visit when we want to.
