Meet Katherine Hansen

What camera do you use? 7.1MP Fuji FinePix S700
What program do you create in? Photoshop v.7 – but looking to get CS4
How long have you been digital scrapbooking? About two and a half years.
How would you describe your scrapbook style? It varies from project to project. Generally a “clean and simple” or “graphic” style – but recently I’ve been working on a pages with a lot more element clustering and shadowing.
Where do you create, and when? I work full-time, so my scrapping time is generally in the evenings and weekends (I have a very patient and understanding husband LOL). I have a room set aside for crafting, but it’s upstairs – and shared with my teenage son and his DVD’s and the Wii (not very conducive to scrapping). Most of the time, my laptop, hard drive, and tablet are set up at one end of the dining room table.
What’s your ‘go-to’ technique or trick? As my photography is improving, and the quality of the pictures are getting better, I love doing what I call selective cropping. I use this particularly on portraits to really zoom in and focus on someone’s eyes, a smile, etc. By cropping out all the extra “stuff” you really let the subject shine all by itself.
What’s your favorite color combination? Hard to say. I tend to stick to brighter colors paired with neutrals, or perhaps black and white with one spot color. Pastels I would only do very occasionally.
Do you prefer movies or books? Movies.
What’s your favorite snack? I only get to pick one!? LOL Chocolate covered pretzels – sweet and salty together – yum!
What type of music do you like? Something a little more along classical lines (my parents were always playing classical music when I was growing up). A good voice will do it for me, e.g., Josh Groban, Il Divo, Andrea Boccelli.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be? Australia. Perth, to be exact. Lived there for three years before coming to the US and would love to go back – summers are hot, but the rest of the year is pretty mild. Ha! Winter?! What winter?
What five adjectives describe you best? Loyal, stubborn, fast-paced, artistic, and friend.
