Inspiration From My Inbox
I get about 30-100 emails a day in my “junk email account” from major retailers trying to sell me something. Most of the time I just hit delete, but when I’m stuck in a scrapbook design rut, my inbox is often the first place I look. That’s because I’ve found a wealth of inspiration there, especially for digital scrapbooking. Within minutes of browsing my inbox, I’ll see something and think, “Oooh! This would make a great scrapbook layout!”
Take this recent email I received from West Elm. I just love the grid of overlapping photos with the copy highlighted in the middle.
And here’s my scrapbooking interpretation:

Here’s another great email example from Shopbop. The angle of the photos are really interesting and a little unexpected.
My layout has a lot less photos than the email inspiration, but quirkiness is the same. It’s all in the tilt.

I keep a file on my desktop with all the emails I’m inspired by, that way I can reference them later. So the next time you’re cleaning out your inbox, take a few minutes and shuffle through your emails to see if you get a creative spark from one of them!
