I set out to create a fun summer mini album to document the fun things my boys and I do this summer. I started with Audrey’s Rockabilly Papers and Alphas:
and created this fun summer mini:

First I printed up several sheets of the Rockabilly Papers on 8.5 x 11 plain white cardstock. In CS4, I added the title and some other words like eat, see, do, go, read, make, june, july… over a few sheets of patterned paper to be die cut and added to the pages inside.
I used glimmer mist on the printed sheets, some got iridescent gold, some got turquoise, all look super shimmery and happy! I also misted a few sheets of kraft cardstock with turquoise and candy apple red.

While those sheets were set aside to dry, I cut two pieces of chipboard to 6×6 for the covers.

I trimmed the patterned papers and cardstock down to 6×6 pieces and used my ATG and glue sticks to adhere the cover papers to the chipboard. I followed up with my sewing machine and stitched a long straight stitch around the edges. I used my cropodile to punch holes in the covers so I could use jump rings to bind. On the inside pages, I stitched the pages on cardstock to one patterned paper back to back and used a small circle punch to punch the holes inside. I have only added 3 pictures so far, but plan to fill it up with pictures throughout the summer.

For the June and July pages, I die cut a circle around the month name, glimmer misted it with iridescent gold, layered it over a doily then stitched to the cardstock BEFORE sewing the front to the back patterned paper.

I wrapped some blue divine twine around this little instax picture of my boys at the lei stand before using glue dots to adhere it to the opening cover.

I added a bit of journaling to this photo in CS4 before printing a borderless 4×6 print. I added a 2×6 scrap to the bottom and border punched another 6″ strip for interest and then added the little “eat” circle.

this page is a pocket page. The live, luck, laugh paper is not 6×6, but is long enough to go just past the pocket strip, and since I’m stitching two pages back to back, it doesn’t matter. Great way to make use of all the pieces of paper.

I have saved the other little strips and bits to add when I add more pictures to this project.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my project! Do you make minis? Do you have any questions? I’d love to hear from you!
