We are in the middle of selling our current house and getting ready to build our new house, so HGTV and DIY are becoming regular staples in our home. One day, I was watching one of the shows (I really can’t even tell the difference between any of them anymore), they made over a couple’s master bedroom. The final look revealed a beautiful room with a mixture of grays, mustard yellow, blacks and whites. My style is usually more country than modern, but for some reason I really loved this room! Thus began my obsession with the gray and yellow color combination…
After falling in love, I decided to create myself a super-cute, new outfit. Luckily, I already had a mustard yellow cardigan. I also started looking online for ideas for the new house, and I came across an awesome bathroom on Rate My Space.

As most things in life do, my new favorite color combination eventually spilled over into my scrapbooking world. I decided it would be fun to do some layouts with this gray/yellow/black combo. Not a day after the idea had popped into my head, Jen Allyson released her Vanity Fair Sepia collection at DHD.
The colors were perfect! The exact mustard yellow I had envisioned! If I had made color swatches of what kind of kit I was looking for, I think it would have looked exactly like this paper:
This is not the first time Jen has done this either. I swear she has an uncanny ability to read my mind and know exactly what I need to scrap with. So if you ever need a product that is *just right*, concentrate really hard, and Jen will probably have it in the store the next day. Hey it seems to work for me…
I also found these yummy taupe papers in Deena Rutter’s Martha, My Dear Treebark Paper Set:
So now that I had my dream kit, I got to scrapping. This color combination is neat, because it looks great with almost any black and white photo, but still has a punch of color in the yellow.

It also works really well with soft and faded pictures with a vintage feel.

Overall it’s just a fun color combination to work with, and obviously one that I have fully adopted as my own.
