This Saturday, May 4, Tasha Lanigan and I (Mary Shaw) are hosting a beginner’s crop. We’re having fun preparing for it! It is free, and there is no experience required! You just need software, photos, and an Internet connection to join us.

How do I sign up?
What can I expect to learn?
We’ll teach you how to make a digital scrapbook page! This is a chance to get personal, live online instruction. You’ll be taught by scrapbookers: Tasha Lanigan and Mary Shaw. You’ll actually make your own page during the crop. You’ll be switching between the Google+ Hangout screen and your own scrapbook page. You can then print this page, share it on Facebook, and enter it into our May Photo Journal challenge.
What is a template, and where do I get it?
We’ll all use this template: Sarah Sullivan’s Everyday Stories Template 1. A template is like a sewing pattern, except for scrapbooking instead of sewing. It will help you make a page, but you will be able to size and modify it as much as you’d like.
What else do I need?
You need 3-4 photos. Select them ahead of time, because it can take FOREVER to choose your favorite photos.
You also need some digital scrapbook supplies. If you have some already, you might be able to use them. Make sure they work with the photos you’ve chosen. If you don’t have any supplies yet, you can wait until the crop, and we can give you some recommendations.
We’d prefer for you to support our store, and choose items that came from the Design House Digital shop. This course is free, but we have to pay the bills somehow We have some really good supplies, and we have some really good freebies as well.
What time is the crop for me and my location?
Check our event’s time zone page. It’s this Saturday, May 4th, at 9am Pacific Time and 12pm Eastern Time. You should plan on two hours. The first page can be difficult!
Do I need a plugin?
We’re hosting this inside a Google+ Hangout, so you’ll need to have a google plus account and plugin. If you’re not sure about whether your computer can do this, sign up for Google+ and come 15 minutes early!
What else should I know?
The crop will be highly interactive, and with Google+ we can show videos, see each others’ faces (though that is optional), talk, chat on the page, and screen share. We will split into groups if we get a lot of signups, to give everyone individual attention.
If you have a headset, bring it! You’ll find it helpful!
