August Artist of the Month
August Artist of the Month is Jackie Bach, aka treasurebachs. Jackie’s gallery features a linear and sophisticated style with a spark of playfulness. Let’s get to know a little more about her.
What camera do you use?
Up until a few months ago, several different point and shoot cameras. I recently stepped it up a bit to a Nikon J1 and my iPhone 4s.
How long have you been digital scrapbooking?
About 3 years
How would you describe your scrapbook style?
I think I’m still trying to find my style. I lean towards linear but am always challenging myself to try styles outside my comfort zone such as clustering and grunge.
Where do you create, and when?
On my family room couch. I fit my scrapbooking in around my 20 hour a week job, running errands, and other chores. I manage to find blocks of time about 3 or 4 days a week.
What’s your go-to technique or trick? Actions, to improve the quality and interest of my photos, and scraplifting.
What’s your favorite color combination? I love to use neutrals and add pops of bright colors and I especially love kraft.
Do you prefer movies or books? Books
What’s your favorite snack? Chips and salsa
What type of music do you like? Classic rock from the 70’s
If you could live anywhere, where would it be? On the beach, about 3 miles from where we live now in Southern California.
What five adjectives describe you best? Shy, organized, dedicated, thoughtful, loving
Jackie shares one of her favorite layouts with us and tells us why it’s a favorite:
She says, “I love this photo of my mother and I love making layouts using old family photos. When I look at the photos, I feel like I learn something about the people in them. I hadn’t thought much about who my mother was before kids, but when she handed over two old photo albums for me to scan, I think I got to know both her and my dad a little better.”
Thanks Jackie for sharing a little bit about yourself with us and being a part of the DHD family!
