4Play
Hello, and happy Monday! Who else is still thrown off from daylight savings time? Well, grab a cup of coffee and settle in for another week of 4Play! I’ve selected some of my favorite kits – kits I come back to time and time again. I hope you enjoy them just as much!
The kits I chose this week are:
Liz says: “The kits and elements Shannon picked were all great, and I kept saying things like “Oh, I like that one,” and “I have to use that!” Eventually I pared the selection down to under 100 elements (barely), and I’m pretty happy with the results. I really liked how the stitched journaling lines in Robyn’s elements made my text stand out, and Karla’s word art stickers added great punch. Gen’s mist paint was fun to re-color and add a little artsy touch to an otherwise linear design. Jen’s pp gave the word strips and journaling a nice place to land, plus I used a little border of Jen’s pp to surround the whole lo. I love all of the banners in Robyn’s kit, the more the merrier! This was fun.”
Jennifer Hignite:
Jennifer says: “These kits were all so fun to use! The colors of the papers in Jen’s kit are playful but sophisticated, and I ended up using bits and pieces of them as the base of my layout. I recolored Gen’s mists and layered all of my photos and elements right over top to give the layout the look of lots of dimension. Karla’s word art is always a favorite of mine. It was the perfect way to create my title and her word strips add a whimsical feel to the layout. I used Robyn’s Kraft elements to add some more layers and finish the whole layout up!”
Missy says: “These four kits had so many goodies in them I really had a hard time not overloading my layout with too much stuff! I thought the yellow paper was a great “feel-good” paper for the background and then I added some fun elements from Robyn and Karla. Gen’s mist splatter was just too fun to add onto my layout but I did lighten the opacity since the gray looked better with my layout. Then I decided to use the newsprint border on all four sides of the layout, and finished it off with a banner and that awesome big flower.”
Shannon Dombkowski:
Shannon says: “I chose these four kits because I go back to them time and again. Jen’s papers use colors that work well for any layout – and they have a bit of grunge to them, which I love. Mists are a must for me on 99% of my pages, and Gennifer makes awesome mists. Everyday events are some of my favorite things to scrap – and Karla makes elements that are always perfect for those type of layouts. Plus, I love the handwritten look to all of her elements. And Robyn’s Kraft elements? Well, I love kraft. It’s a great neutral and these can be added to any layout of any color scheme.”
Don’t forget that today only (ends Monday at midnight PST), you can get each of these kits for only a dollar, and one is even FREE! So go grab them, and then play along. Upload a layout using these four kits to the DHD gallery by Sunday, then come back here and post a link to it. Not only will you learn to stretch your kits, but you could win a gift certificate to DHD!
(Congratulations to MamaBug, who wins a DHD gift certificate for playing along with last week’s challenge! Be sure to leave her some love!)
