4play

It’s time for another 4play, where the Design House Decorators highlight four amazing kits from the DHD store. This week I chose kits with bright and lively colors. We had a big shift in our weather and now what used to be a landscape of fall colors has quickly become cold and white. I just am not ready for the long winter season and lack of color. I look forward to seeing what you create with this week’s kit selections.
Here are this week’s kits.
Sunny Days – Digital Elements By Karen Funk
Notions Blue & Co Digital Scrapbooking Solids By Jen Allyson
Lighthearted Papers 2 By Shannon McNab
Tears Set 1 By Tiffany Tillman
And now for a little inspiration. This is my page.
I feel like you just can’t go wrong when you start with great neutral background papers like Jen Allyson’s. I have always loved paper tearing, a carry over from my paper scrapbooking years, and Tiffany’s have always been a go-to in helping me to achieve that look in my digital pages. I loved Shannon’s patterns in the Lighthearted series. There was a great balance of subtle patterns, like the one I used for my larger torn piece, and bolder patterns like the diagonally striped paper I selected. I loved the way that just a little hint of the stripe paper gave the visual interest to my page. The element kit I chose from Karen gave me a quick title and also saved time on drop shadows since the flowers came already shadowed. LOVE that. The scatter of dots and flowers were created easily with a dingbat font.

I love the combination of kits for this week’s 4Play assignment – a fun mix of styles. Shannon McNab’s patterned papers were nicely off-set by the solids from Jen Allyson that I added to give the eyes a place to rest on the page. Karen Funk’s sunshine-related theme made me think of outdoors, and I just knew I had the perfect pictures
Tiffany Tillman’s tears were so much fun to play with! I added all four to a single page, layering them carefully, to create my center paper with torn edges on all sides.
