4 Play

Hi everyone!  It’s  Monday morning and that means it’s time for some 4 Play.  Wow, in some circles, people would be giving us some very strange looks at the mere mention of that, but not here, right?  We all know this is a great time to grab some fabulous Design House Digital (DHD) kits and to get creating!

For today only, three kits will be priced at $1 each with one special kit for FREE. Your challenge is to create a layout using just these four kits. Upload your layout into our gallery and then post the link in the comments section below to be entered to win a DHD gift certificate. Remember, the special prices on these kits will expire tonight at midnight PST.

Here are your kits for this week – a little vintage, a little retro, and a few pops of color: Iconic Papers by , My Project 365 – Mixed Pack by Ju Kneipp; Weathered Frames by Agi Biro; and Aged to Perfection by .  I was joined by DHD Decorators Celeste, Anna, and Jennifer to create some inspirational layouts for you – let’s take a look at the pages.

Says Celeste: I started this page by concentrating on Mye’s word art. I knew that I’d have to find a photo to go with the sentiments there. I decided to shorten the word art to just the word Perfect by erasing parts of Mye’s original design. From there I found a photo and selected one of Agi’s pretty frames. Then dragged a whole bunch of Ju’s elements on the page to layer behind and above my photo. Last, I created some spaces for Audrey’s fantastic paper and finished my page with a few banner pieces and a custom journal spot. Not my usual m.o., but fun to mix up the way you start a page once in awhile!

Says Anna: When I saw the word art I went for a lookout of a grandpa/grandma photo. I found this cute one and then built my layout around it. I liked the pattern papers a lot, so I put several layers of them to show them off and to included more colours. Finally, I added some paint as it’s my all-time favourite element.

Says Jennifer: My page was definitely inspired by the word art. After selecting my photo, I added the frame and layered it with all the great ephemera and floral elements. I added a few pieces of Audrey’s gorgeous paper pack and my page was done. When kits go together this well, the page really comes together easily!

And last, but not least, my page. At first glance, it might not look like this week’s kit selections go together, but I love how this page came together. Audrey’s papers lend a retro-ish vibe, contrasting against Agi’s vintage-inspired frames (and look carefully when you download the frame – did you see the little details on there, like the stitching?). Ju’s elements were great for layering and adding a pop of color, while Mye’s word art was perfect for the sentiment I wanted to express with this photo of my son and our dog. I added a white border to the wordart so it didn’t blend into the solid paper too much. I also removed the word “grandma” from the word art and extracted the butterfly, turning it into an additional embellishment.

Okay, now it’s your turn!  I’m looking forward to seeing what you create.  Don’t forget to include a link to your gallery post here in the comment section for your chance at a DHD gift certificate.  Speaking of prizes, congratulations to Cassie on winning last week’s certificate with her layout Nana & Me.
