4 Play
It’s time for 4 play, one of the best posts of the week! This week we are featuring 4 great kits by 4 great designers. 4 Design House Digital decorators each created a layout to inspire you. I thought I’d add in a challenge this time also by using a calendar kit by Tiffany Tillman.
Every Monday we bring you 4 kits to use in our challenge. For today only, three kits will be priced at $1 each with one special kit for FREE. Your challenge is to create a layout using these 4 kits exclusively. Jennifer Papadimitriou – My first thought was to use the calendars as little frames for my layout. I had a lot of random shots of my Aunt and daughter so duplicated the frames a bunch of times. I had a few photos with bright colours that didn’t match, so I changed them to black and white. I loved the flower doodles so I clipped a pretty purple pattern to them as well!
Jennifer Valencia – I loved the choice of Tiffany’s calendar template, because it was perfect for a layout featuring — you guessed it — my daughter’s favorite calendar! I love the pretty blues in Karen’s kit, and Erica’s alpha was perfect for a title. A swirled paper from Jen added the perfect pop of color.
Christy Carlson – When I first saw this weeks choices, I really like the challenge of using a calendar on a scrapbook page. I decided to highlight an important date both with the calendar and the picture. I don’t do patterned backgrounds so it was also fun to incorporate that wonderful purple paper into my page. After that I just started layering papers, ribbons and elements until I got the look I wanted. I highlighted our special date again with the alpha stamp #4 and done! Loved working with the blues and purples (purple=another thing that I don’t do very often!)
Missy Backues – I thought Tiffany’s calendar template made a great template to use on a layout in addition to a standalone calendar. I chose to use a multiple photo template but use two of the areas to show off patterned papers. I added the gorgeous papers from both Karen and Jen, and had fun “stamping” Erica’s alphabet on my layout for the title. The colors in the kit worked well with a photo of my daughter on the day she got her braces off, but I decided to change the photo to black and white after seeing it on the layout.
