Welcome to this week’s 4Play challenge! Every Monday, the 4 Play challenge features 4 kits by 4 different designers (3 $1 kits and 1 free!) that you use exclusively to create a project for a chance to win a DHD gift certificate. We also show you four projects using these kits created by DHD decorators for some inspiration. Here are the picks for this week:
And here’s some inspiration using these kits:
My starting point for this layout was Karla cut-out cards and the stars caught my eye – and were perfect to record an awesome bowling score from my son, a new personal best. From the star card, Gen’s alphas made a great not-so-serious title, which seemed to suit a more playful layout. Between Erica’s elements and Robyn’s papers, I had all the pieces to layer together. I love that Erica gave us brush dates that can be mixed and matched to create endless possibilities.
I am always amazed on how 4 seemingly different kits can go together so beautifully – this week’s selections are no exception. I was initially thinking that I could create a page about my work life, but was immediately drawn to the fun colors and designs of the kits and decided to capture my daughter’s athletic side. Erica’s kit set the color tone, Robyn’s had the perfect kraft papers, Karla’s star card was perfect for the “superstar” aspect, and Gen’s alpha worked perfectly to mark the title and draw your eye in. Love these kits!
When I first saw these kits, I thought they’d be perfect for a boy layout all about my son. But when I browsed through them, the office-themed elements inspired me to create a layout about a work event. I loved the “all work and no play” as a sentiment to carry out that theme for my layout. The papers from each kit worked so well together and Gennifer’s fabulous alphabet accented it nicely!
For my layout, I used Karla’s cards with my photos and rounded the corners. I created more rounded cards and clipped papers and elements to it from Robyn and Erica’s kits. I extracted and re-colored Erica’s quote in her kit and finished off with Gen’s black alphas for the title.
Don’t forget that today only (ends Monday at midnight PST), you can get each of these kits for only a dollar, and one is even FREE! So grab them, and then play along. Upload a layout using these four kits to the DHD gallery by next Sunday, then come back here and post a link to it. Not only will you learn to stretch your kits, but you could win a gift certificate to DHD!
