4 Play

Carey here – it’s Monday, which means another 4 Play challenge! Each week we choose 4 kits to mix & match and scrap exclusively from these kits. The challenge is to ONLY use items from these 4 kits. We invite you to play along, and at the end of the week a winner will be chosen to receive a gift certificate from DHD.

It’s back to school time around here, so I chose kits that would work well with those first day of school photos, but also fit other topics. These great kits are on sale today only, so don’t miss out!

Iconic Elements by
Elemental Frames Vol. 1 by Gennifer Bursett
Muse Alphabets by
Newsprint Papers by Shannon Hegarty

Check out the following inspiration layouts from the .

Lori Pickens:

Lori said, “These were great picks – love the colors! My layout came together so easily.” By using small strips, Lori was able to use multiple patterned papers without distracting from her photo.

Rachel Alles:

Rachel shared, “When I saw the selected kits, I was so excited as it screamed “little boy” to me. I was able to finally scrap a few of my many many pictures of our son’s fake smiles. :) I really love how easily the 4 kits work so well together. I can see them used for multiple types of pages.”

Mandi Buchanan:

Mandi said, “I started out dreading the idea of scrapping this picture because this little girl is about to start high school in a week, and I’m not ready for that!! Even though I was emotional, the creative process was good for me and I love how it turned out!! Shannon’s papers have such a soft quality that I love and one even lent itself to recoloring easily when I wanted to go with a “wallpaper look.” I also love the little bit of grunge Gennifer’s frame added to my photo. Audrey and Karla’s kits made it easy (even for me) to layer and achieve the look I was going for – I did it! (Now I’ll try to tackle next week  )

Carey Bridges (me):

Audrey’s elements are perfect for school layouts, and are a fun departure from the typical primary colors for school. Shannon’s papers have a tone and color scheme that complement Audrey’s elements, plus I love the alpha papers! The distressed frames from Gennifer and the alphas from Karla add the perfect finishing touches to any layout. I also used Gennifer’s Insta Awesome action on my photos to give them a similar tone as the kits. Be sure to get those must-have shots of your child for the first day of school: at home or the bus stop, showing off the new back pack, with his/her new teacher, and for fun, some shots of your child holding up the number of fingers that correspond to his/her new grade.

Don’t forget that today only (ends Monday at midnight PST), you can get each of these kits for only a dollar, and one is even FREE! So go grab them, and then play along. Upload a layout using these four kits to the DHD gallery by next Sunday, then come back here and post a link to it. Not only will you learn to stretch your kits, but you could win a gift certificate to DHD!

**Congratulations to ecooper99 for winning a DHD gift certificate for last week’s 4 Play challenge for her layout, Another Perfect Hike.**
