4 Play
Welcome to another 4play, where the Design House Decorators showcase four amazing kits from the DHD store! I hope everyone in the states is having a great Memorial Day holiday and able to be with friends and loved ones and reflect on the reason for the holiday. For this week’s 4play, I wanted to showcase red, white and blue (and shades of gray). These colors are so versatile and can be used for a variety of themes, beyond patriotic layouts.
I chose Merry Little Christmas Paper Set 3 by Erica Coombs, a Christmas kit that is so versatile with its dots, stripes and solids; Stamp Sheet {Boy} by Karla Dudley, a very boy-themed kit; Strawberry Patch Elements by Sara Schmutz, a somewhat girly kit; and the everyday-themed This Life Journalers by Kate Teague. While the themes of these kits are very different, they share the red, blue and neutral/gray color scheme. Let’s see what the Design House Decorators created with these kits!
First up is my layout:
I knew the red and blue color scheme would work well with a story I’ve been wanting to document regarding my son’s love of all things Super Mario. The colors and patterns of the papers highlighted my photos nicely. Karla’s Stamp Sheet {Boy} had the perfect word art to highlight my hard core gamer. The journaler from Kate’s kit provided space for my story, and some stitching and brads from Sara’s Strawberry Patch Elements added the finishing touches. I also used a template from Tiffany Tillman’s Sublime Part Two kit.
Lori Pickens created this adorable layout:
Lori went with neutral tones to keep the focus on her cute photos. I love how she cut up the journaler as a creative accent. She re-colored Karla’s stamps to fit the color scheme and added some stitching and staples to hold everything down.
Next is the sweet layout from Aria Andrus:
Who said, “I loved the combination of papers and elements Carey chose for this 4Play! I used mostly reds and neutrals which were perfect colors to use with so many of my boy photos. Karla’s boy stamp sheet has some great “boy” statements that I loved incorporating into this layout.”
And finally, Sarah Hemmert shared this layout:
She commented, “I love using blue and red together – (I think I’ve said that here before) and my son’s shirt was a blue plaid that matched the colors of Erica’s papers so well. Score! I used pops of red, because (of course) I had to tie in the blood.
I used one of Tiffany’s templates as a base, and filled in the photo mat layer with a journaling card from Kate. The stitching from Sara really tied the page together and anchored my large photo to the paper.
Amazing layouts, ladies! Now, are you up for the challenge?
Today only (ends Monday at midnight PST), you can get each of these kits for only a dollar, and one is even FREE! So go grab them, and then play along.
