4 Play

I’m so glad to be bringing our next 4play challenge to you this week!  After a week of rehearsals, dance recitals, and craziness I am ready to scrap away!  Our kits this week are very versatile and full of bright, happy colors.  I can’t wait to see what you all come up with!!  So bring on the inspiration!

Agnes Biro – EnRoute

Audrey Neal – InstaFrames

Karen Funk – Sweet Life patterned papers

Celeste Knight – Sunshine elements

This is what I came up with!

I had a design in mind before I started picking elements from each kit.  So to make it work the way I envisioned, I altered a few items, which made creating this even more fun!  I used a lot from Agnes’ kit, like papers, masks, and stitches.  Karen’s cute green paper helped me break up all the blue, and I altered some elements from Celeste’s kit for journaling lines and to frame the letters of my title.  Audrey’s frame kept focus on my pouty girl and the story I wanted to tell.  Hope you enjoy!

Next up is the amazing Jennifer Barksdale:

She said, “The colors of the papers and whimsical elements reminded me of some park photos I had. Since there were several photos to work with and I wanted to keep it simple, I used Audrey’s frames on each photo and grouped them in a block in various sizes. I combined Celeste’s elements into a title accent and clipped Agnes’ papers to it. Agnes’ brushes added details and interest to the background of my page and journaling. I added a strip of Karen’s striped paper under the main photo with Agnes’ twine element to break up the block of photos and tie in all the colors together. I really like how everything came together and how it conveys the fun we had that day!”

Jennifer Hignite’s page is so fun:

She added, “I absolutely love Agnes’ en route kit. As soon as I saw it was included in this weeks 4 play, I knew my layout had to be travel themed! Audreys frames were super fun and easy to use to get that instagram look, without the use of a phone. I used bits and pieces of Karen’s papers to frame my photos and at the very end, I decided to use one of Celeste’s fun frames to anchor the whole layout together.”

And I was truly moved by the story Mary Roger‘s shared:

Who said, “I loved the kits that Mandi chose this week. I just love the color orange lately and can usually make it work with most of my photos (and a few actions).  My daughter LOVES music, prefers it over everything (even food sometimes) – I love that my husband captured these photos…she makes me so happy.  I was able to use elements and papers from all three kits, which seamlessly flowed together, and adding the Instaframes was the easy part. I layered two on top of each other to give them more depth.”

(Congratulations to Jan for winning this week’s DHD Gift Certificate for participating in last week’s challenge with her layout Jase’s 9th.)

Don’t forget that today only (ends Monday at midnight PST), you can get each of these kits for only a dollar, and one is even FREE!  So go grab them, and then play along.  Upload a layout using these four kits to the DHD gallery by next Sunday, then come back here and post a link to it.  Not only will you learn to stretch your kits, but you could win a gift certificate to DHD!
