2011 Hybrid Desk Calendar
Hello again! With 2010 drawing to a close it’s time to start thinking about 2011 Calendars. Personalized calendars also make great gifts, so if you’re looking for a quick but personal gift idea read on!
I used the 2011 Calendar kit by Karla Dudley for this project. The kit comes with layered templates and gives you two options. You can either add a photo for each month of the year, or one photo to each three month sheet.
I like using an empty CD case as a frame, it’s the perfect size to sit on a desk. In order to make the case stand as a frame, you need to separate the two pieces, and put them back together the wrong way, so that the case doesn’t close, but stands as a frame.
I selected corresponding photos for each month from 2010. So for the January slot, I used a photo from January this year, and so on. I clipped the photos to the template as shown.
So far I only made the first nine months, as I will wait till December to get the final photo to complete the calendar. Here’s what the first sheet looks like close up
Once I had the three sheets complete, I resized them to 4″x4″ (the template is sized 8″x8″), and copied them onto a letter sized sheet.
I printed them out onto glossy photo paper. I cut the pages apart, then cut patterned paper mats to fit into the CD case, approximately 5″x4.5″
Now I have one gift (almost) crossed off the list!
