1 Kit, 4 Ways – Woodsy Elements

1kit4ways

Ahh. Spring is in the air where I live, and that means more time outside! This week’s kit, Woodsy Elements by Kate Teague, will be perfect for all of those outdoor photos, and so much more!

The crisp red paired with beige, sky blue, and sage green provide a nice, neutral accent, and really let your photos shine! Want to win it? Stay tuned!

I started us out by scrapping a traditional hike, one that my family takes every year. With over thirty of us now, it really takes a lot of photos to showcase it! I compiled a bunch of my favorites in this handy template (free from Songbird Avenue’s blog), and backed the layout with a neutral grid paper from Carina’s Essential’s Papers v.1. I added a couple of the labels for my title and a bit of journaling (really, just a bit, since the photos tell the story), and a photo turn to anchor them down finished off the page.

Jen Allyson joins us this week with a fabulous layout: The strong photo stands up to the full height treatment, and the scalloped green paper helps to soften the line between the picture and journaling. The photo corners on the bottom edge balance out the dark limbs on the opposite corner, and the addition of the flags on the left side of the layout adds the perfect amount of dimension to the page.

This layout by Heather Guenther is just lovely, don’t you think? The white space of the layout helps to emphasize the breezy, outdoor feel of the photos, and keeps the attention right where you want it, on those beautiful smiles! The strong, linear lines of the photo frame keep everything lined up just right, while the sprinkling of glitter keeps it from being too static. I really love the way she lined up the two different colors of ric rac in the upper left corner… such a great idea!

Check out this layout by Carey Bridges… doesn’t that look FUN? The layered horizontal elements keep your eye moving across the page, and the title tag fills in the empty space of her photo just perfectly. Speaking of her photos, did you notice the frames? They’re from the mushroom and leaf stamps, but you’d never even know… what a clever idea for a frame! The subtle grid paper from Kate’s Life in March kit provides a nice, neutral backdrop, but still with plenty of texture and life.

So, ready to win Woodsy Elements? Comment here, and answer me this: What was the last thing you hunted? I hunted for a screw I lost while working on an organization project for my mudroom yesterday. I think my two-year-old assistant may have had something to do with it…

(Big Congrats to Patsy, the winner of last week’s kit!)

The last thing that I hunted for was a journalling element that I knew that I had in my digistash on an external hard drive. It was a search and rescue mission, but I FOUND IT lol.

On a long road trip yesterday hunted for good gas price, oxy moron i know. Saw a great price in one town but thought i could beat it in the next town. Duh…. was 10 cents more in the next town. By then really needed gas. Lesson learned and planned my trip back hoping that the town with the best price had not raised their price yet like everyone else. Good news…it was still the cheapest and i filled up milking every drop out of that hose that i could. Thanks for the chance to win.

The last thing I hunted for was a bracelet that a cousin gave me more than 50 years ago. I still haven’t found it. I seem to always be on the search for something. Sigh ….
