1 Kit, 4 Ways: Summer Girl

It’s Wednesday, so it’s time to unveil another collaboration. I’m particularly pleased to be bringing you Summer Girl, by the amazing and me, Gennifer Bursett:

This super fun kit brings to mind fields of flowers, faded sundresses, and worn cowboy boots, and I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we did creating it. In fact, I couldn’t resist playing with it myself, so I’ve got five to share with you today!

Layout by Gennifer Bursett

I loved the old-fashioned feel of the wood (totally looks like 70′s paneling, right?) and the faded florals. I layered lots of like-minded colors, but kept the pieces blocked to give it a bit of order. Stitched circles on the photo bring your eye right to the people, and I repeated the circles with two round labels that break up the square. Shadows make the butterfly, title (from my new Snippy alphas) and banners stand out for extra realism.

Layout by Anna Drozd

Anna says: “When I saw those beautiful girly papers and this wordart I knew at once this layout would be about my little niece. She’s so cute and beautiful and this collab was perfect to show it off.”

Layout by Mandi Buchanan

Mandi says: “These kits are amazing! I loved every little bit, so at first I struggled with a direction and narrowing things down, but that didn’t last long! Celeste’s papers are gorgeous, as usual, and I used several along with her banner and date stamp. I loved the butterflies and flowers from Gen’s kit, so I had to include them and they provided the perfect finishing touch! I’m glad I finally made myself record this!”

Layout by Missy Backues

Missy says: “When I first saw the kit previews I was excited that they were so feminine and pretty! Then when I unzipped the kits I was so excited to see the pretty patterns up close and then find things like stitched leather, eyelet paper, and lots of sweet stuff! This collaboration inspired me to take a photo of either one of my girls right now, since it is the beginning of summer here. I managed to snap this one in the car of my youngest with her curls, just moments before they got soaked in the sprinkler at her cousin’s house. I cropped my photo and used a variety of actions to improve the lighting and phone photo quality.” Inspired by a layout by Jen Chapin.

Layout by Jen Flaherty

Jen says: “This collaboration is so summery and sweet, it didn’t take me long to find a photo to go with it. Because I plan on framing and hanging this page, I decided to enlarge the photo and accent it with minimal papers and elements. I added in some stitches from Agnes and some wordart from Karla to finish the page off.”

Gorgeous layouts, aren’t they? Are you ready for your chance to win both Part 1 and Part 2 of this collaboration? Comment here, and answer this:

Do you own a pair of cowboy boots?

I don’t, but after seeing a gorgeous pair of embroidered ones this last week, I kind of want some. Even if I’m not a cowgirl, in a town full of them.

Don’t forget to stop by this weekend, when Celeste and I will have our entire shops on sale. We’ll be hosting a chat on Saturday night at 7 PM (MST), and if you like this kit, you will definitely want to stop by… Trust me. We’ll also have some extra-special deals on a few of our kits, including some freebie and dollar ones, so you won’t want to miss that.

(Congrats to Mendie, who wins last week’s collab, Birthday Bash, and to treasureBachs, who wins Ju Kneipp’s Fly Away From Here. Have fun, ladies!)
