1 Kit, 4 Ways – Nautical
Another Wednesday, another collaboration… this week we’ve got Celeste Knight and Agnes Biro teaming up to bring you Nautical:
I just love the slightly worn and vintage-y look to this kit, and the traditional color scheme is kicked up a bit by the addition of orange. Let’s take a look at what the DHD Decorators have done with it:
Jen says: “The colors and style of this kit are so…Nautical! It really does capture the essence of the sea so beautifully with its faded blues and reds. I have so many beach photos, it was hard to choose just one, but I finally went with this old one of my son the first year we began going to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The reds and blues in the kit complemented his navy suit well. I added to the washed out feel of the papers by using brushes by Agnes Biro, Erica Coombs and Tiffany Tillman behind the photo and around the page edges. I reduced the opacity of them and clipped more of the beautiful papers to them. One of my favorite techniques! I finished it up by adding some blue paint splatters and red journaling.”
Aria says: “The colors and theme in this kit are fabulous! Most of my water related pictures have to do with lakes instead of beaches so I was a bit liberal in my usage of “the sea” in my title. I just loved the word art so I wanted to incorporate that somehow. To give the papers a sort of grunge look to match the beach theme, I added a layer style to each paper cutout, the background and also my photo. Everything about this kit is just perfect for scrapbooking beach photos!”
Celeste says: “The colors and theme of this kit brought to mind this photo of my youngest at the helm of a fishing boat that he went out on over our vacation. I just love how the reds and blues in this kit go with my photo and how the nautical elements reinforce the theme. The wood scatter by Agnes gives the page a little extra dimension and Celeste’s red papers provide just the right amount of pop!”
Audrey says: “I love how sophisticated and calm this kit feels; the subtle patterns and the soothing colors led me a couple of my favorite San Francisco photos. This same subtle mood inspired me to scrap about my love of the west coast, but I knew that I wanted the journaling to be the main focus. I selected a soft blue color scheme from the available papers, with a nautical red stripe on the scallops for a bit of pop. The red banners tucked in among the paper elements provide a visual triangle, and the wooden buttons provide a touch of dimension.”
Gorgeous pages, from a gorgeous kit! Are you ready for your chance to win Part 1 and Part 2? Comment here, and answer this:
Are you nautically inclined, or naughtily inclined?
We’ll be back next week to choose a winner, but in the meantime, be sure to check out Celeste’s and Agnes’s shops for some great deals. They’ll also have some dollar kits and freebies for you, but on Monday they’ll go back to regular price.
(Congrats to Beatrice, who wins last week’s collab. I think summer is perfect, too!)
