Happy June, everyone! As we spring into summer, many of us experience busier days, with even less time to scrap. The perfect jump start to a quick and fabulous page? Templates, of course! This week, we’re using Tiffany Tillman’s Lefty Righty Template Fourteen:
Although it’s designed as a two page, 12×12 layout, don’t be afraid to change it up! We’ll show you just how versatile a single template can be!

Since I’m not usually a two-page scrapper, I condensed the template into one. I also combined all of the photos into one long horizontal one, which enabled me to utilize a fun and interesting crop. I took out the stars, but added a few flourishes in the same flowy shape, but kept the journaling and other elements in the same general areas. A cute bird and bubble, along with the fun polka dot paper (all from Jen Allyson’s Design 365 April Kit) provided me with pops of color in a great combination! Overall, a bright and cheery page, with plenty of white space. (Oh, yeah, and lots of great shoes!)

Heather Guenther showcases her amazing photos with this layout, and shares her process: “I decided to take the double pager and shrink it down to a single 12X12 page as I am not a big double page spread type of scrapper. Then I decided to rotate the entire page of elements to put it on a touch of a slant. I chose to stick with the color scheme of the template as the colors looked good next to my photo and brought out the slight color of the rainbow in my photo. I then just added an additional journal box to continue my journaling and filled in all of the stars with different papers keeping to the color scheme. Finished off with a date for a reminder when my memory starts to fade on me.”

Missy Backues says: “This great two-page template set with the stars made me think of my daughter’s dance recital song last year, which was titled “Rockstar” by Prima J. Then I realized this would be a great template to display all the recital costumes she has worn since she first started taking dance. I had to add a photo on the left but it was very easy to do with all the layers in Tiffany’s template file. Then I stretched out the top and bottom paper strips and kept the rest just the same. It’s so fun to look back at all her costumes as well as seeing how she has changed over the years. I used patterned papers from Jen Allyson’s Design 365 June Kit and solids from her Vanity Fair Sepia Kit. Fonts are My Own Topher and Daily Birdie (by Audrey Neal and available here at DHD.) I loved that this template set included a full double page file as well as both a left and right side. I used the full double page and then just cropped and saved each side separately for printing. 2010′s recital is coming up this weekend and we’re really looking forward to it!”

Wrapping us up this week is Renee Fink: “I modified this template to adjust to an 8.5″ x 11″ format. To accomodate the change in size, I selected all of the stars and resized them together. I wanted to keep their ratio to each other but didn’t want them running off the top and bottom of the page. Because of the extra space on the sides I stretched this a bit by adding another photo on the far left and centered the photos to allow for the page split. I’ve been working on a heritage album and thought this would be a great template to show pictures of my brother and I as kids. I had 2 photos that didn’t fit well in the long, slender frames so I simply added some colored paper to the rectangle frame and didn’t have to worry about cutting off any of my photo.”
So, what do you think? You’ve seen it as one page, you’ve seen it as two. You’ve seen it with photos added, and taken away. We’ve rotated, we’ve resized, and we’ve removed, and it’s still fabulous. Would you like your very own Lefty Righty Template Fourteen, to play with as you like? Tell me this: What would you rotate, resize, or remove from your life completely? Besides the obvious (Can you say ‘liposuction?’) I’d love to rotate my house. I wish that my front door wasn’t north facing… it means for an icy front porch all winter long!
(Congrats to Lee Ann, who can rotate and resize to her heart’s content with MaryAnn’s Handstitched Journal Boxes from last week!)

Great template and some wonderful ideas for switching things up! Thanks for sharing!
I’d love to stretch my free time, to be able to play with scrapbooking a bit more per day!
Love this template, gives me ideas for a stretch layout!
love everyone’s take on the template!
Cool template
Thank you, Gennifer!
What a fun surprise in my inbox!
I would remove all those negative, toxic people from my life!
Great template! As a busy person, I definitely see the advantage of utilizing a template and this looks really versatile!
If I could resize or remove something, it would have to be my muffin top (expanding waistline). I’ve been going to the gym and while everything else is diminishing, that is still hanging on.
I am in love with all Tiffany’s new templates.
I don’t even know what I would tweak about my life. I’m kinda thinking it’s perfect. =)
That’s a fun template. I don’t think I have ever seen so many ideas for changing up a template like this before. Awesome!
I would resize my house. We’re strapped for money, so we’ve downsized to pretty tight living conditions. 900 square feet, 2 bedrooms, 1 (small) bathroom…. for myself, hubby, and 3 kids. There have been SO many times in the last several months where I’ve just ached to have a quiet corner in the house!
